The children
|
When the children are admitted to Nambikkai Illam they receive clean clothes, good food and loving care from the staff. They are educated at local schools and are taken there and back in our own buses. On a Sunday the children are taken to the Church of God in Pallavaram where many of them are now members. As the children reach the age of needing training or further education, their needs are assessed so that they can be placed appropriately. |

James* has a father and mother. His mother is ill, his father also sick and not been able to work for some time. He was in the care of his
grandmother, who was finding it difficult to manage the family. He came to FWT in 1999 aged 7.
At 13 it was discovered that he had a hole in his heart
and attended both the Government Hospital in Chennai and Ramachandra Hospital for treatment. He needed an operation which would cost around £2,000. Leela our
Warden came up with all sorts of plans for fundraising – Sun TV, writing to the Prime Minister and the state Chief Minister. These proved unsuccessful, but with
the help of FWT the operation was done in 2005. Despite being moved from Intensive Care a bit too early, and having a blood clot on the brain removed – he is
now well recovered. His first words after his operation were from Psalm 23! He is now proud to show off his scar and keeping well.
